Effective Use of Sponsorships for Marketing and Community Relations We all get asked to sponsor events and groups - from little leagues to our local runs. What works? What doesn’t? How do we evaluate our return on investment to know where to put our marketing dollars? Learn from professionals, including Courtney Jackson, who oversees sponsorship decisions for Providence Health System in Portland, and Pam Wilson, Senior Account Manager and Director of Social Marketing, PAC/West Communications (formerly with Metro), to learn how to get the most value when groups come to you with opportunities. Pam Wilson - Senior Account Manager and Director of Social Marketing, offers a unique combination of media relations expertise with a strong background in public health and health care. She has more than 20 years communications experience ranging from developing results-oriented social marketing campaigns to building constituencies around health care issues. Wilson is a strong advocate for women's and children's health care. She was a founding board member of the Oregon Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition and currently serves on the board of the Portland Relief Nursery.
Strategic Employee Communications – Best Practices Employees are our first ambassadors - with our patients, with our vendors, and with our physicians and the public. How we communicate with them matters. Representatives of Tuality Community Hospital and Portland Adventist Medical Center will share insights about employee communications strategies that work well and have been recognized as outstanding. Both hospitals received high marks from their employees in surveys conducted for Oregon Business Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work in Oregon designation.

Remaining Invigorated in our Jobs Lisa Davidson is a member of the Communications Studies faculty at Marylhurst University in Lake Oswego. She will talk to us about "keeping the spark alive while working the 9 to 5." Lisa is a professional trainer in leadership and team building, as well as a professor at Marylhurst in a variety of topics that relate to professional development.
HIPAA Update for Marketing and Media Relations Get an update on the latest HIPPA regulations - what's coming, what's changed since last we talked, and how to stay on top of this topic.
Working with the Media – Words of Advice from Reporters (and former reporters) Reporters and former reporters will explain how best to get your stories in front of the public. They’ll offer tips for contacting reporters and editors and explain their personal views on what makes a newsworthy story and what will motivate them to return your call. They’ll also share some frustrations and pet peeves about working with PR practitioners and answer your questions. Our panel includes Morgan Holm, Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Director of News and Public Affairs. Holm has a background in news production for both commercial and public broadcasting. He has been with OPB since 1990. He is the executive producer of Oregon Considered and Seven Days. He will be joined by other panelists to be announced.
